I´m Patrick. I´m one of the teachers at SpeakYourMind Diagonal. I´m from a small town in the north of England, called Buxton. It´s right on the edge of the Peak District (a national-park) so it was a beautiful place to grow up. If you like rock-climbing, mountain biking or hill-walking, I can highly recommend it.
I´ve lived here in Barcelona for about a year now and I have loved every moment of the experience. Catalonia is a really interesting place to be and it´s always great to get to know a new culture. Before coming here, I spent a few years living and working in Eastern Europe (The Czech and Slovak Republics). As you can imagine, travel is a big part of my life!
I´ve been teaching English for around 4 years now. The profession seems to suit me pretty well. I love the energy of the students, their stories and getting to know their interests. Most of all, I love to see the progress they make over the course of a semester. As any good teacher will tell you, watching students improve and grow in confidence is an incredibly rewarding experience.
In my free time, I´m a keen musician. I like to play the guitar and sing songs to anyone who´ll listen! I sometimes play at bars here in Barcelona, and sometimes on the street. I also love the outdoors. In my opinion, there´s no better way to spend a weekend than to go walking in the mountains with a tent on my back and a basket in my hand filled with mushrooms. People here are crazy about mushroom picking too, so as you can imagine, Catalonia suits me very well.
